WorldMerge Overview
What you can do with WorldMerge
WorldMerge is for anyone who manages a web-based business! WorldMerge allows you to quickly and easily communicate with your customers in a quick and efficient manner by sending personalized email to your entire customer base. Here are a few of the many uses:
With WorldMerge, you can quickly and easily generate large numbers of personalized e-mail messages using your "internet-ready" database of recipients and a "template" e-mail message. You can also send unpersonalized or "broadcast" messages to your recipients even faster! WorldMerge costs a fraction of the server-side alternatives, requires no custom programming or consulting, and leaves you in complete control!
The main WorldMerge screen is shown above. It consists of menus, a toolbar, a recipient window which shows your recipient list, and a message composition window.
When you first start WorldMerge or create a new mailing project, the WorldMerge project wizard will prompt you with several questions. After the wizard has finished, the above screen will become active. At this point, you can select or unselect recipients by clicking on the particular recipient's entry in the list. Unselected recipients are dimmed, which indicates that a message will not be sent to them. Once you've selected the recipients for your mailing, you can compose a message by typing in the message composition window.
When you've completed selecting recipients and composing your message, you can save your project by selecting Save or Save As under the File menu. This will save your project for future use. You can create an unlimited number of mailing projects with WorldMerge.
The first time you run WorldMerge you will need to setup your name, e-mail address, and
SMTP server, which is the internet name of your outgoing mail server. Contact your ISP if
you are not sure of the SMTP server name.
Selecting "Use Return Address as Return Path" will set the Return Path header
field in your messages to be set to the return address you specified. This is useful in
routing undeliverable messages to another address.
Selecting "Log Mail Server Conversation" creates a log file called worldmrg.log in the WorldMerge installation directory. This file will contain all responses from the server during the send process, and is useful for debugging purposes
You can also change these settings at any time by selecting Configure under the File menu
The above dialog appears every time you start the unregistered version of WorldMerge. You are free to evaluate the software for a period of 30 days, and it is almost completely functional during that time. During the evaluation period, make sure you agree with the license agreement in the scrollable window and press Accept. If you would like to register the software, follow the steps below:
That's it!
Once you register, all send limitations, including our advertisement at the bottom of each message, are removed.
NOTE: Do not give your registration number out to anyone. All registration activity is logged on our server.
